Les Carmes De Rieussec 2015
In the 18th century, the Rieussec estate belonged to the Carmelite monks of Langon. The confiscation of the estate during the French Revolution led to its public sale around 1790 as an “object of national heritage” to Mr Marheilhac, who at the time owned Château La Louvière in Léognan. For the 1855 classification, it is Mr Mayne who owns the estate. The quality of Rieussec’s terroir earned it a place among the Sauternes and Barsac Premier Crus. Château Rieussec was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1984. At that time, the estate covered 110 hectares, including 68 hectares of vines. A new winery was built in 1989 to extend barrel ageing.

| Weather Conditions | The winter of 2014-2015 began in mild, dry conditions. But, as is often the case, the colder month of February slowed vegetation and even delayed budburst. The warm, dry spring was favourable, but almost too stressful in terms of water. The rainfall at the beginning of June was ideal for the flowering process. The summer was very hot until mid-August. |

Tasting notes
Very pretty second sweet wine of Rieussec with a medium to full body and a layered and tight mouthfeel. Medium sweet and vivid. Pineapple, green papaya and mangoes. Flavorful finish. Hard to drink now. Why not? James Suckling 93/100
