This Chateau, property of the Mommeja family, is a must-see in Medoc.
With the means to best express its terroir, the energy of an entire team is mobilised in a global process of improvement and continuous learning. The largest portion of the vineyard is used for biological viticulture with the objective of a total conversion in the next few years. Organic certification in 2021.
Château Fourcas Hosten has a distinguished profile, combining complexity and elegance.

VINES35 year old vine on average planted on 60% Pyrenean gravelly soil and 40% clay-limestone on a subsoil of clay and iron of which +/- 70% of the vines in red are grown in organic viticulture.
HARVESTManual and mechanical. Precise sorting with optical machine. with manual sorting in the vineyard and machine sorting on reception at the cellar.
ŒNOLOGISTEric Boissenot
VINIFICATIONWinemaking adapted to each vat. Fermentation between 24 °C and 29 °C. Two intelligent sprinklers are used to optimise the extraction of marc and the quality of the tannins. This is followed by a hot post-fermentation maceration (between 24 °C and 28°C).
Running off the presses directly in barrels.
AGEING12 months in French oak barrels. Bonding with egg white after the final blending.
