Tasting notes

Smokey notes with aromas of black fruits, cherries, blackcurrants. The initial impression is frank; the wine is supple and meaty with a nice presence of fruits and a touch of caramel. Long finish with silky tannins.

Château Clos Lamothe

Red

Graves is seen as the birthplace of Bordeaux’s high-quality red wines. It was here that the region first gained its reputation, as early as the XIV century – hundreds of years before Dutch wine merchants and producers drained the marshes of the Medoc.

The prestige of the Graves name was somewhat reduced in 1987, when the new Pessac-Leognan appellation was created. In the late XXth and XXIth century, Graves has proved that, it is capable of producing high-quality red and white wines. The antiquity and originality of this designation are reminders of the major part played by the terroir in the quality of Graves wines. Wine always had an important place in the history of the Maurin family. In the archives, they found some parchments signed in 1731 under the reign of Louis XV.

These documents testify the purchase of vine plots by the family. With modesty and simplicity, Clos Lamothe continues its activity.
